EMERGENCY LANDING AIRSTRIP FOR NATURAL DISASTERS

Monisha Mondal, ANM News: Construction of an airstrip for emergency landing between Datrana and Jawanpar villages on Limbdi-Khambhaliya national highway near Dwarka has started, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Monday.

Emergency highway based airstrip to be constructed on Khambhaliya – Limbdi National Higwhway near Datana Village in Gujarat due to its strategic importance. This would be the First among total 11 such planned across India under Bharatmala scheme.

He said these airstrips will have a standard design, comprising four parking slots for aircraft, one air traffic control and 60-meter wide cement concrete road. He said, there were plans to set up 11 such emergency landing airstrips on national highways across seven states for timely relief during natural disasters or any such untoward event.
